Time Zones

TIME ZONES is a collective project that includes artistic creation, residencies, exhibitions and a public programme. It takes place at Atlas Studio in Carvalhal and at ESAD.CR in Caldas da Rainha. It brings together several artists who work with themes of time, history and memory in relation to ecological issues. The title refers to the boundaries of time in relation to different geographical zones and their borders. The artists involved in this project use a range of techniques that juxtapose different temporal registers and experiences, resisting the standardised time of modernity. They present different sensory, material and imaginary temporalities, contrasting tradition, modernity and the future.

The project includes residencies, masterclasses, an Open Day, a public presentations by the artists who acknowledge the simultaneity of different times and examine cultural differences in the construction of time.
